Beef Tallow Skincare: A Return to What Actually Works.

Long before commercial skincare existed, our great-grandmothers reached for tallow. Modern science is finally catching up to what they knew — beef tallow is one of the most bioavailable, barrier-building moisturizers on earth.

    Why beef tallow

The most skin-similar fat in nature.

Beef tallow's fatty-acid composition — roughly 50% saturated, 42% monounsaturated, with small but meaningful amounts of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and palmitoleic acid — is closer to human sebum than coconut oil, shea butter, or any plant butter on the market.

When sourced from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle, that tallow becomes a delivery system for fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — nutrients your skin uses to repair itself, regulate cell turnover, and protect against environmental damage.

    What's inside a tin

The science behind beef tallow skincare.

    • 01

      Vitamin A (retinol)

Supports cell turnover and the appearance of smoother, more even skin.

    • 02

      Vitamin D

Critical for skin immunity and barrier function — and notoriously difficult to absorb topically without a fat carrier.

    • 03

      Vitamin E

A powerful antioxidant that protects skin lipids from oxidation and free-radical damage.

    • 04

      Vitamin K

Linked to reduced appearance of dark circles and improved capillary health.

    • 05

      CLA & palmitoleic acid

Naturally anti-inflammatory fatty acids that calm reactive, irritated skin.

    Sourcing matters

    Grass-fed makes a measurable difference.

Tallow from grain-finished cattle contains far less of the nutrients that make tallow worth using. We only use grass-fed, grass-finished cattle so the vitamins, CLA, and omega-3s are actually present in your tin.

    Frequently Asked

    Questions, answered.

Why is beef tallow good for your skin?+

Beef tallow's fatty acids are nearly identical to the lipids your skin produces, so it absorbs deeply, restores moisture, and rebuilds the skin barrier. Grass-fed beef tallow also delivers bioavailable vitamins A, D, E, and K, which conventional moisturizers typically can't.

Does beef tallow skincare smell beefy?+

Properly rendered grass-fed tallow has a very mild, neutral scent. Our scented variants are blended with pure essential oils, while our Unscented option has only the faintest natural aroma — undetectable on the skin once applied.

Is beef tallow skincare safe for the face?+

Yes. Tallow is non-comedogenic for most skin types because it mirrors human sebum. Many customers use it as their only face moisturizer, day and night.

Is beef tallow better than plant-based oils?+

Plant butters and oils have their place, but they cannot match the skin-similarity of beef tallow. Tallow is the only natural fat with the same lipid family as human skin — that's why absorption is so different.
